Canvas Chronicles: My Creative Evolution
I have been drawing and coloring since I was old enough to hold a crayon. I loved to color when I was younger and I was always encouraged by my parents. Even as a kid, I viewed coloring as an escape. I was fascinated by the fact that my own hands were capable of creating something and that alone brought me immense joy. I went to drawing classes when I was around the age of 4. My teacher saw me grow up. She taught me everything- from holding a crayon to creating lines that turn into art. I went for those classes for a majority of my childhood and I will always be thankful to her and my parents for nurturing my creative side.
I will be turning 18 this year and thinking about how art has been a constant in my life for such a long time amazes me. My relationship with art has not been an easy one, I had instances when I felt I wasn't good enough and that I should try harder. I often compare myself to others in a way that demotivates me but I am coming to realize that how I feel when I create something is my own personal experience; even if I wasn't happy with the end result, I still had a wonderful time making it.
As I grew older I learned about different types of art and I have tried the ones that I could. I have recently found comfort in creating art digitally and this drawing will always be one of my favorites. I made this at a time when I had a lot of things on my mind. I used art as an escape and did what I loved most. I decided to draw this particular portrait because I have always been proud of my country and its traditions. I feel that the clothes worn in India are special to my own country and hold a lot of history. This drawing will always hold a place close to my heart.
When I find something interesting, I try my best to learn more about it. I recently found out how to draw characters so they look animated. I learned about the importance of shadows and light in a art piece, the role of references and color theory and so much more. I applied what I learned in this drawing and I am excited to learn more.Apart from creating art, I also love visiting art museums. My college is located near Kala Ghoda, Mumbai- a place well known to art enthusiasts. I love going to art galleries and exploring what art means to others. The one thing I love about art is that no one can truly create something wrong because unlike most things in life, art has no rules and regulations to govern out creativity.
